UC Berkeley undergraduate students who complete an eligible Summer Minor may qualify for a $1500 Summer Minor Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded after the minor is completed and is posted to the student’s CalCentral account. The award is credited to the applicable prior summer term.
To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled UC Berkeley undergraduates and must complete all requirements for an eligible minor either in one summer or across two consecutive summers. All coursework must be completed before graduation. Students must earn at least a 2.0 GPA in the courses used for the minor. Upper-division courses used for the minor must be taken for a letter grade. Courses with grades of F or NP cannot be used to satisfy minor requirements.
Students must complete at least four minor courses during summer terms. Students are allowed to complete up to one minor course during the academic year, if that course is available and approved for the minor (for example undergraduate research in electrochemistry, or CHEMENG 176.
Scholarship eligibility is verified after students complete the minor. If a student finishes the minor with a summer course, the scholarship is typically reviewed in the fall and posted by winter break. If a student completes the final course during the academic year, the scholarship is typically reviewed in summer and posted before the end of the current summer term.
Students should note that other financial aid awards may need to be adjusted so that total aid does not exceed the student’s Cost of Attendance.
